As a Senior Project Controls, you will be responsible to act as the focal point for cost controls on the site and to integrate all cost controls activities within the portfolio of projects undergoing delivery at site.

To succeed in this role, you should have experience in minimum of 10 years’ experience in Project Cost Controller within the resources, construction and infrastructure sectors

What you’ll do

We’re looking for a Senior Project Controls to join our team.

The role responsibilities include:

  • To act as the focal point for cost controls on the site and to integrate all cost controls activities within the portfolio of projects undergoing delivery at site.
  • Coordinate the overall cost analysis activities on projects; assuming responsibility for preparation, quality and accuracy of project cost reports; establishing liaison with project management and clients on all matters relating to cost control; assigning and reviewing work of subordinate cost analysis staff.
  • Develop, implement and control the project accounting and job costing system to meet project requirements.
  • Take ownership of the cost control function and ensure integrity of the data being processed.
  • Liaise with Worley Corporate and Client accounting groups to establish a project cost control and reporting methodology
  • Liaise with clients to clarify cost related issues and develop timely and meaningful monthly invoices. Ensure payment of invoices according to PCM contract terms.
  • Preparation of monthly financial reports for the project.  Also prepare other financial analysis as required on an adhoc basis.
  • Ensure effective coordination and cooperation between other team members, particularly in regard to cost, planning (forecasting) and procurement matters.
  • Conduct variance analysis between actual and budget/forecast costs and prepare financial reports for project management and key stakeholders.
  • Conduct periodic cost audits to ensure adherence to project financial controls and identify cost risks and uncertainties, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members and other personnel.
  • Promote the identification of potential areas of concern or improvement, to maximize cost effectiveness on projects and work practices.
  • Coordinate the monitoring and reporting requirements originating from project controls systems, activities ensuring that submission dates are met by the team and that insightful comment is included where appropriate
  • Provide support and analysis to project management teams in oversight and management of key contracts as pertaining to project controls commitments.
  • Support the Programme/Project Delivery Manager in the preparation and review of the business planning cycle ensuring funding requirements of the projects are correctly captured.

What you’ll have

  • Proven experience in supervising and mentoring others in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with conflicting priorities and limited time available.
  • Able to demonstrate an awareness and understanding of industry standard practices in cost control activities.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and commonly used business software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English is required.
  • Proficiency in another language may be a significant advantage in certain location assignments.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Project Cost Controller within the resources, construction and infrastructure sectors
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Project Cost Controller role
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or an Engineering qualification or equivalent experience in engineering / construction
  • Have the experience and skills to set the standard and drive the rest of the team to excel in HSE
  • Competent in relevant Microsoft Office software
  • Have experience in cost and project control computer applications
  • Excellent communication / interpersonal skills.
  • Work as part of a multi-discipline team.
  • Team management skills.
